Question: what I have to do to know the availability of a yacht ?
Answer: You can check on the booking online in this web site or you can contact us by e-mail info@cruisingcharter.it, fax 0789-25966 or telephone 0789-25944. We will tell you which boats are available in the requested period.
Question: What is the option ?
Answer: Option, which duration is seven days, is an exclusive booking priority that we give to the client. In this way he can decide if book or not the requested charter, which cannot be booked by other client in the meantime. Option is for free and not binding for the client.
Question: If check-in is at 18.00 and checkout is at 9.00 of the same weekday, I will sail just 6 days, why?
Answer: Beacause the first and last nights is better to stay in Portisco; furthermore, it is normal for charter companies to use the nine hours between 9.00 and 18.00 to check, clean and prepare the boat for the incoming client.
Question: How the booking can be confirmed.
Answer: Communicating to Cruising Charter by e-mail, fax or telephone the will to confirm the booking; after this, you will receive the invoice with terms of payments and the charter contract to be fulfilled and signed.
Question: If I cancel a booking after my confirmation, shall I lose my advance payment?
Answer: Yes, the advance payment is lost in case of cancellation. If booking is cancelled less than 60 days prior to charter, settlement must be paid too.
Question: It is possible to bring animals on board ?
Answer: No, charter contract forbid it expressly
Question: Is boat insured ?
Answer: Yes, boat has two insurance policies:
- a third party policy, which covers damages that the boat could make to thirds.
- a full risk policy, which covers all damages the boat could suffer of, up to the total loss.
Question: what is the caution ?
Answer: It is the sum client must give to shipowner at check-in; normally caution amount and full risk insurance retention sum are the same. Retention sum is that amount which insurance never pay.
Question: Which is the function of the caution ?
Answer: To pay small damages which could not be paid by insurance because inside the retention sum.
Question: It is possible to lower caution amount ?
Answer: Yes, paying a sum. For example, caution of Bavaria 46 is € 3.500,00; you can reduce this risky capital paying € 160,00, so that your caution will be lowered down to € 250,00.
Question: How can I give the caution ?
Answer: By credit card (Visa, Mastercard and American Express); it will be not cashed but in case of damages. You can even give caution in cash. You cannot give caution by cheques.
Question: You can put me in touch with a skipper ?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Skipper you proposed is a Cruising Charter worker ?
Answer: No, is not included, is an obligatory service and have to be paid at embarning.
Question: If I charter the boat with skipper, should I give the caution ?
Answer: Yes, of course in this case caution will be not used to cover damages related to the skippers’ duties, such as boat driving. It will be used to cover damages caused by the crew, such as, for example, those to the furnishing, or some equipment and rigging loss.
Question: which are the skipper’s offices ?
Answer: To drive the boat safely for the crew and the boat itself. To satisfy as much as possible the crew requests considering the weather conditions, the boat dimension and how the people on board is skilled. To keep the sailing and technical equipment tidy will be in the care of the skipper, but it will be not its office to cook or tidy up the cabins. Food for skipper will be paid for by the client.
Question: Is final cleaning of the boat included in the price ?
Answer: Yes, that means you will be not charged if giving back the boat in normal conditions. If the boat is given back in poor and very dirty conditions, you will be charged of € 100,00.
Question: Shall we find bed sheets on board ?
Answer: Yes, bed sheets, pillows and blankets are all included in the price.
Question: Will be towels on board ?
Answer: No, we not even give them as an extra.
Question: Shall we find oilskin jackets on board ?
Answer: No, we do not supply them.
Question: Is it possible to have the children sized lifejackets ?
Answer: Yes, to be requested one week prior to charter at least.
Question: What is the Bimini Top ?
Answer: A textile cover on a steel frame fixed on the cockpit as sun shelter.
Question: Is it the boat place in Portisco included in the price ?
Answer: Cruising Charter pay first and last night, the others have to be paid by the client.
Question: When I come back in Portisco for checkout is a boat place booked for me ?
Answer: No, boat places cannot be booked in Portisco, not even by Cruising Charter. Client will have to take care about coming back in the harbour not too late in the evening; otherwise he could find it full. Actually, harbour is crowded only between last weekend of July and the end of August. No boat place problems for all other periods.
Question: Is it possible to book a single cabin joining a group of other bookers ?
Answer: No, we do not offer the single cabin.
Question: I do not have any sailing licence, can I charter a boat ?
Answer: Yes, Bavaria 32 and 38, not bigger.
Question: Can I go to Corsica with one of your boats ?
Answer: Yes.
Question: What I have to do to enter the marine park of La Maddalena ?
Answer: To pay the ticket that you can buy in many harbours of the area. For more details take a look on their web site, the link is in the section “links-ferry-flights”.
Question: If I come by car, how can I find the boat ?
Answer: Boats are moored at dock 9; if you do not find the boat call 337-813577.
Question: Can I leave my car inside the harbour area ?
Answer: Yes, but not in the private places.
Question: Are some guarded parking places available paying ?
Answer: No.
Question: Is it binding to follow one of the Cruising Charter sailing trips ?
Answer: No, they are just some example and advices, you can choose your own cruise. The most important is to make a sailing trip suitable to the crew experience and skill, to the boat dimension, to the holiday duration, and that can be changed in case of bad weather.
Question: Is it possible to check-in at 18.00 as per contract, and leaving immediately ?
Answer: At 18.00 check-in starts, taking usually one hour; we do not suggest leaving suddenly after this process, because it will be late and it would be worth to arrange luggage and foods in the cabins, taking confidence with the boat before leaving.
Question: If I am still far away from Portisco few days before checkout and weather is bad, how can I come back with the boat ?
Answer: We strongly recommend to be in the sailing area of Portisco a couple days before the checkout day, and to check carefully the weather forecasts. If you should have problems to sail back to the base of Portisco, you can contact us per telephone; we will send you a skipper who will bring back the boat to Portisco. All relative costs will be charged on you.
Question: What happens if I am late in giving back the boat ?
Answer: This is a case to avoid with the best care; anyway here following are the consequences:
- full payment of the following charter week;
- full board and lodging for the incoming crew.
